Can you believe how fast this all went? Or is it just me:). Let go whether is was perfect or not and know that how ever you managed to cleanse, your are changed. You have new information, insights and experiences that you will always have. Even if life becomes challenging again, you have tools and resources to come back to. We heard from some of you at last nights meeting, but please share here what worked for you and how you are feeling! Would LOVE to know!!

I mentioned this in the audio lecture on oils. Olive oil can be a tricky one to cook with and to bring confidence to my cooking, I joined the Fresh Pressed Olive Oil Club. I wanted to be sure I was using a high quality product that would not oxidize at higher heats. Cooking with other high heat oils is always a good alternative - like coconut and avocado oils. Link below and for more info on oils - check out the manual for what to look for when purchasing olive oil and high heat vs. low heat oils. https://freshpressedoliveoil.com/

We were just addressing stress in a recent email and coincidentally, The Paleo View did their last podcast on the mechanics of stress, the side effects of stress and stress management. This topic is relevant to us all in some way, take a listen! Science content starts around the 9 minute mark.

I do hope to get more video recordings on our Cleanse Content page. In the meantime, I do have audio recordings of live classes on Soundcloud that you can listen to as well. They are all Power Vinyasa. Wanted to make sure you all are getting what you need! https://soundcloud.com/jennharte

I remember now, my family loves these protein balls and we normally used maple syrup (like in the recipe here), but I made a date paste in the vitamix and it worked so well. You do need to add water, you cannot add dates to a blender dry, it will just a gooey mess. Soak 1 cup of dates in 1 cup of water for 30 minutes or up to 8 hours. Remove dates from water and set the water aside. Puree dates in food processor or blender. Add a few tablespoons of soaking water to the date puree and continue to blend. Blend until the date paste is creamy. This is all in the manual as well - page 69. In this one, clearly substitute the maple syrup with your paste.

I mentioned this in our meeting, I enjoy The Paleo View podcast for the science of food that is delivered. I like her discussion on the amazing properties of raw honey and black strap molasses. This is clearly for post cleanse, but in this 21 days of clean eating, you can take time to learn about safer alternatives for after the cleanse! https://www.thepaleomom.com/tpv-podcast-episode-158-sugar/ - they chat a little too much at the beginning of this one, start at 32 minutes in! https://www.thepaleomom.com/tpv-podcast-episode-160-sugar-q-a/ - she gets into some black strap molasses on this one and also starchy carbs for diabetic and pre-diabetic.

Many of these alternative sweeteners can be complex as to how they interact with our bodies. Some are so new that comprehensive studies are limited, especially in humans. Here is the science on monk fruit and lucuma - new non-nutritive sweeteners on the market.

Good afternoon!  Hopefully you are in preparation mode, working through the weaning process of caffeine and sugar. Which reminds me, today is not the day to go out with bang!  I know it can feel like you want to squeeze in the last supper of bread, wine and dessert.  However, stay strong through this evening, enjoy something special in moderation and wake-up feeling ready and refreshed for a new beginning! We will experience and learn the power of food and its impact on the human body, at a cellular and fully body systems level.  There are countless examples of individuals that share their success stories and are living proof of the impact of whole foods and nutrient density. I really like this TED Talk, Minding Your Mitochondria by Dr. Terry Wahls.  Maybe you have heard of her.  She was a practicing physician diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  It became so debilitating that even with the best medical treatment, she was finding herself confined to a zero-gravity reclining chair.  Now I know this example is extreme, but listen to her story and you will be amazed.  Even more powerful now is the impact she has on the medical and nutritional communities.  We are always learning and evolving!  Look forward to seeing/talking with you all tomorrow as you embark on DAY 1!
